Two long-established institutions joined in celebrating the communal service of a man who currently serves on about 20 boards of directors with concern, level-headed advice, humility, and humor.  The award represents the values of the oldest Jewish dayschool in a small community in the United States, and a skilled nursing care, independent living, and hospice facility that dates back to the close of the Civil War when it was established to serve the widows and orphans of war casualties.

The paper background is painted to look like aging parchment and the words are separated by tiny raised dots of gold leaf.  The piece hangs in the nursing home where it not only honors the recipient, but inspires staff and residents as well.
